M Squared Strategies becomes M Powered Strategies

Posted in Corporate Updates on January 16, 2013

Over the years, as M Squared Strategies has matured, our scope and mission have evolved. To celebrate our growth, we have decided to change our name. On Sunday, January 20th,  M Squared Strategies, Inc. will officially become M Powered Strategies, Inc. We are excited about the change. The new name better reflects our mission, empowering executives and managers to achieve their goals through our consulting and professional development support.  With our AMP and PACE programs we empower apprentice professionals by giving them the tools and hands-on experience for success.  Watch our website as we continue to implement our suite of professional development programs to support the public sector, teaching others to be effective in public service.

We look forward to operating under our new name, as we continue to provide our clients and contract teams with a first-class team of motivated consultants, trusted advisers, and reliable partners.

Andrew Slawter

Congratulations to Andrew Slawter for becoming a certified Project Management Professional. Andrew has been working in project environments for several years in various roles from communications analyst to program manager. During his five years at M Powered Strategies, he has had a lot of exposure in managing and leading projects, along with formal classroom training in the intricate aspects of Project Management. So applying for his Project Management Professional Certification, which is administered by the Project Management Institute, was the logical next step.

Andrew said training for the certification was an eye-opener. “I gained valuable insight into how to shape and manage projects in a way that can consistently help them align with overarching project purpose and objectives.”

The process culminates in a rigorous four-hour exam. Andrew found it challenging, but with hours of study and the full support of everyone at M Powered Strategies, he passed with flying colors. He is now putting his newfound project management knowledge to use. Next on Andrew’s agenda is to become involved in his local PMI Chapter, and to seek additional training in Agile project management, which M Powered Strategies is organizationally ready pursue.

Kat McDonald

M Powered Strategies successfully kicked off its newly designed Corporate Giving Program this holiday season by contributing to two local charitable organizations. Thanks to the generous support of M Powered Strategies, along with employee donations, which were doubled by the Donation Matching Program, we were able to raise over $1,000 for the Capital Area Food Bank. Employees also contributed a shopping cart full of food items.

On Christmas morning, Kat McDonald, our Corporate Giving Manager, brought employee-donated books, slippers, and other gifts to veterans living at the Department of Veterans’ Affairs Hospital. Among the recipients were: a gentleman who was a member of the Tuskegee Airmen during WWII, a spry centenarian who served in the first African American Female admin unit in WWII, and a Vietnam vet who recounted his stories of the Tet Offensive and his role as a tanker during the war.

We look forward to more opportunities to enrich the M Powered Strategies Giving Program and grow our Pro-bono Services and Corporate Volunteering portfolios in 2013. Through these programs we aim to support the missions of local non-profits and create a lasting impact on our community.
