M Powered Strategies is pleased to announce the certification of yet another Project Management Professional (PMP) on staff. Jimmy Church recently gained his PMP and is now an official member of the DC Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMIWDC). After successfully planning and executing several long-term projects across functional teams in Tanzania (Peace Corps), Korea, Kenya, Seattle, and Washington DC, Jimmy decided it was time to take his career to the next level by earning the PMP credential and validating his project management skill set. He is excited to continue applying these skills in FY2014 as M Powered Strategies expands its client base and takes on projects of increasing complexity.

M Powered Strategies is pleased to welcome back former PACE apprentice, Kristen Rice-Jones. She joins us now as a full-time consultant, working for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Kristen, who has a background in political science and a Master of Arts from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, entered the MPS PACE program last summer. As an apprentice, she worked for the VA to facilitate the transfer of Veterans’ health records from the Department of Defense (DoD) to the VA.   In her new role, she will be working on the Veterans Benefits Management Systems (VBMS) Business Architecture and Requirements Testing contract to reduce the claims backlog and provide Veterans with the benefits they need and deserve.

Kristen is enthusiastic about joining the MPS team. “The dedication to professional growth provided by M Powered Strategies was truly a catalyst in my transition to consulting as well as my decision to join the firm. Coming back to MPS allows me to merge my interest in the Federal Government with the firm’s goal to increase government efficiency and effectiveness.”
