Jerry Pierce Jr., President & CEO of The Interamerica Group

On Friday, February 21, 2014, M Powered Strategies (MPS) kicked off its PACE Executive Speaker Luncheon Series with Jerry Pierce Jr., President and CEO of The Interamerica Group. Mr. Pierce spoke to the PACE apprentices as well as some MPS staff about his personal journey from star football player at Dartmouth College, to volunteering in schools and prisons in Central America, then serving as Undersecretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and eventually starting his own business, The Interamerica Group.  He highlighted both the positive and negative aspects of working in the private and public sectors, and encouraged the PACE apprentices to think globally.

The apprentices were impressed with Mr. Pierce’s ability to transform personal challenges into valuable lessons learned. What struck PACEr Taylor Moore was how “seemingly disparate events can influence the direction of a career across the years…how every experience is an opportunity to gain skills, knowledge, and connections that bear on what we can accomplish in the present.”

MPS Develops Strategic Plan For Winrock International Multiple-Use Water Services

Posted in Pro Bono Program on March 11, 2014

Winrock International triangle of water for environment, health, and livelihoodsM Powered Strategies (MPS) consultants, led by Kat McDonald, recently wrapped up an exciting pro bono strategic planning project with Winrock International’s Multiple-Use Water Services (MUS) Portfolio. MUS is a revolutionary approach that couples water service delivery with supporting programs in health, livelihoods, and environment. Systems are designed to integrate all the water needs of a locale: water for sanitation, water for growing food, and clean water for drinking.

Now that their mission and vision are clearly defined, the Portfolio is eager to implement the new strategy. They have begun putting the necessary performance management systems in place in order to monitor progress. “Working with M Powered was a fabulous experience! [They] helped us quickly define a scope of work…created a clear work plan that outlined the steps and roles and responsibilities, and put together a strong team to get us to our goal” said Mary Renwick, Senior Program Officer of the MUS Water Portfolio. “Most importantly, the final Strategic Plan, along with all the supporting materials, is top-notch. With relatively little effort on our side we now have an actionable MUS Strategic Plan.”

The MPS team was impressed by the services the Portfolio provides worldwide, and was honored to have the opportunity to have a hand in improving organizational efficiency and planning that will save lives and help alleviate poverty for millions.
