Mara Goldberg

Mara Goldberg holds a B.A. in Psychology in International Conflict Management–a self-created interdisciplinary degree–from American University. This summer she participated in a symposium through Johns Hopkins University SAIS and the International Peace and Security Institute, where she received a post-graduate certificate in International Conflict Management with Distinction. She also completed 45 hours of mediation training through Community Mediation Maryland and the Key Bridge Foundation. Mara’s work experience is varied and vast, ranging from facilitation and event planning to leadership and research at non-profits, such as CARE, Guatemala Human Rights Commission, Environmental Law Institute and Win-Win Resolutions. Having worked and studied in Latin America, she is fluent in Spanish and enjoys working in diverse settings. Mara is passionate about conflict resolution and gains satisfaction helping others to collaborate and communicate more effectively. She is excited to be a part of M Powered Strategies’ PACE Program, where she can put her skills into practice and grow professionally.

Patti McMullen

Patti McMullen recently completed her Masters of Public Affairs in policy analysis at the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs. While completing her coursework, she worked in Health Services Research and Development at the Richard L. Roudebush Veterans Affairs Medical Center and with the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Division of Student Affairs. Patti has a Bachelor of Arts in government and politics from the University of Maryland, with a minor in rhetoric. She greatly enjoyed her time at Maryland working and interning with the Department of Energy, Optical Society, and for her hometown representative. She is looking forward to continuing her relationship with Veterans Affairs in her new position at M Powered Strategies.

Rachel Clarkson

Rachel comes to M Powered Strategies with seven years of experience in data analysis, program planning, and organizational change. After earning a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master of Science degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology, Rachel served in the U.S. Peace Corps in The Gambia, West Africa. As a Volunteer Programs and Organizational Development specialist, she facilitated international contract implementation for non-profit agencies. She extended her service and spent several months analyzing economic data for the United Nations World Food Programme.

Later, in her home state of Texas, Rachel collaborated among private, community, and social services agencies to implement projects funded by the Texas Department of Justice. She went on to obtain a Master of Arts in Sustainable International Development at Brandeis University outside of Boston. There she honed skills in program analysis and US federal programs assessment. Before coming to M Powered Strategies (MPS), Rachel conducted graduate research in the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) office at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), coordinating the design of a program assessment process. She looks forward to applying her skills as a lead facilitator and engagement manager at MPS.

Zully Barrientos

Zully Barrientos

Zully Barrientos recently completed her graduate work at the University of California San Diego’s School of International Relations & Pacific Affairs with a degree in Public Policy and a focus on social welfare issues in the Americas. She graduated from Amherst College with a B.A. in Political Science and Fine Arts in 2011. She has previously worked as a Culture and Language Ambassador for the Ministry of Education in Spain and as a research analyst for the department of Public Spending and Transparency at México Evalúa, a think tank based in Mexico City. At UCSD, Barrientos was co-founder and Director of External Affairs for Women Going Global, an organization that aims to further integrate gender issues within the context of policy and international development. Zully has been fortunate enough to live, travel, study and work all over Europe and Latin America. She is fluent in English and Spanish and has intermediate proficiency in Portuguese. Zully has a passion for improving government and the delivery of public services and hopes to one day use her experiences at M Powered Strategies to start a consulting firm in Latin America.

Sam Taylor

Sam Taylor

Sam Taylor joins M Powered Strategies with a background in political science, public health, and communications. Sam graduated this May from the University of Massachusetts, where he double majored in Political Science and Public Health. He spent the last two summers in Washington, DC, working as an intern at Columbia Pipeline Group, helping the Communications team juggle stakeholder outreach functions. During his senior year at UMass, Sam spent considerable time covering high school sports for The Republican of Springfield, MA. Sam has demonstrated his passion for politics by campaigning for his hometown State Representative. He is passionate about health care policy development and in his free time enjoys sampling new restaurants and cheering for his beloved Boston sports teams.

Perry Morton

M Powered Strategies (MPS) is happy to bring Perry Morton on board as Engagement Manager for our SEI contract at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Perry is a native of Ohio and spent the better part of the past decade working and living in Korea, Germany, and Afghanistan while serving as an officer in the U.S. Army. In 2011, Perry transitioned out of the military and relocated to northern Virginia for a project supporting senior executives in the Department of Defense (DoD) and other federal agencies involved in national defense. He received a master’s degree in International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University in May 2014. He is excited to bring his experience leading complex projects in the military and private sector to his new role at MPS.
