  • The Carhart Center Director Attributes Profile collects your sense of the relative weight of the attributes needed for a new CC Director. There are five attributes and for each there are 3 factors that should be weighed when considering the expected value candidates could provide to the Carhart Center in a management capacity, and in having a successful, ongoing relationship with the IWSC. Once you have provided your name (as an identifier for our follow on conversation), the first question asks you to weigh these attributes:

    Wilderness Act Mastery (or “Credibility”)
Does the candidate evidence credibility and likely effectiveness with regard to implementing the Wilderness Act and the way agencies need to support it?
    Training Effectiveness
Does the candidate evidence the credibility and likely effectiveness in managing the preeminent service the Carhart Center offers, training (efficacy, techniques, technology, pedagogy)?
    Interagency Complexity
Does the candidate evidence the credibility and effectiveness of the leadership, management and negotiation skills needed to address the complexity created by management, politics and purposes of the multiple sponsoring agencies?
    Budget Operations
Does the candidate evidence the credibility and effectiveness of federal operations related to budget formulation and execution, as well as cash flow?
    Staff Management
Does the candidate evidence the credibility and effectiveness necessary for being the "on-the-ground" manager of experts and an operational team in a manner that enables team effectiveness, performance improvement and change?

Questions 2-6 ask you to weigh, for each of the attributes, three factors that should be considering in evaluating a candidate:

    Formal Knowledge
Certifications, education, coursework, assessments/tests related to the attribute
    Experiential Knowledge
Evidence of having performed work activities in the related attribute.
    Passion
Expressed interest in the attribute, willingness to share and draw on knowledge as well as learn new knowledge in the attribute.

You may use the next and previous buttons at the bottom of each screen to move forward and backward in the selection areas. When you have completed the 6th question, you will be able to hit "Submit" to have your input recorded. Please enter a contact name to begin.
