MPS September Donation Goes to Camp Kesem

The recipient of MPS’s September donation is dedicated to helping children who have been impacted by a parent’s cancer. Camp Kesem is a nationwide community, driven by passionate college student leaders, that supports children through and beyond their parent’s cancer. Founded at Stanford University in 2000, Camp Kesem currently operates free summer camps for children in 40 states across the country. Kesem is the largest national organization dedicated to this unique population, and for many children their Camp Kesem experience is a life-changing event–providing them a community of children with similar experiences, and a safe and welcoming environment to have fun and rediscover their childhood.

Sarah Nurse, MPS Vice President of Client Services, says she nominated this nonprofit because her family lost their mother to cancer when her siblings were quite young. “The youngest, Julia, was involved as an outreach coordinator and counselor with the Cal Poly chapter, and had an amazing experience working with younger children who were going through the same type of experience she had losing our mom to cancer.”

We are happy to contribute to this extraordinary organization, which addresses a very important need.
